Surabaya, July 30, 2025 – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (FKIP UNUSA) continues to strengthen its international academic network through a series of institutional visits, starting with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Malaysia, followed by SR Seri Budiman.

Representing FKIP UNUSA, Mr. Mujad Didien Afandi and Ms. Savira Zaniar, lecturers from the S1 English Education Study Program, took part in the visit as part of the faculty’s initiative to enhance cross-border collaboration in education, culture, and international community service.

The first visit to UPSI Malaysia marked an important step in establishing academic collaboration within the Southeast Asian region, particularly in the areas of teacher education, joint research, student mobility, and international community service programs. Discussions during the visit focused on the development of cross-border educational initiatives that support FKIP UNUSA’s mission toward global engagement.

Following the meeting at UPSI, the FKIP UNUSA delegation proceeded to SR Seri Budiman, an institution known for its dedication to cultural preservation, character-based learning, and creative literacy programs. The follow-up visit aimed to explore collaborative opportunities that connect education, culture, and internationalized community service.

Both institutions responded positively to FKIP UNUSA’s vision of integrating internationalization into community engagement, not only through academic collaboration, but also through cultural and social initiatives designed to prepare globally-minded educators with strong local identity awareness.

The two visits reflect FKIP UNUSA’s strategic direction in expanding its institutional partnerships, fostering cross-cultural academic exchanges, and building a stronger presence in the international education landscape. Both sides are currently preparing plans for joint programs, follow-up meetings, and memorandum of cooperation. This multi-institution agenda reinforces FKIP UNUSA’s commitment to shaping an educational ecosystem that is globally connected, culturally grounded, and future-oriented.
